Dr. Crystal Mallett is a dedicated educator with 20 years of experience in various roles, including classroom teacher, librarian, counselor, lead teacher, and administrator. She is currently in her fifth year as assistant principal at Rapides High, where she is committed to fostering academic excellence and a positive school culture.
Dr. Mallett holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Louisiana Scholars’ College, an M.Ed. in Special Education (Gifted) from Northwestern State University, and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Louisiana Monroe. She also holds a National Board Certification in Early Adolescence English Language Arts.
As an assistant principal, Dr. Mallett plays a crucial role in supporting teachers, enhancing curriculum, and promoting student success. She helps educators refine their instructional strategies, make data-driven decisions, and implement best practices that challenge and support students in their academic journeys. She is also dedicated to fostering a positive school environment where students are encouraged to embrace productive struggle, receive the necessary support, and explore college and career readiness pathways.
Her dedication to education has earned her several distinctions, including Kappa Delta Pi Teacher of Honor (2008), American Legion Department of Louisiana Educator of the Year (2014-2015), and National Board Certification (earned in 2013, renewed in 2023).
